BEATLES & STONES JAMAll instruments welcome! Learn the classic rock tunes of the world's greatest rock bands. Fred will lay out the chord progressions and everybody will play the songs (all together now) and take turns soloing... if you want to solo! If you need some help with chord shapes or soloing ideas and techniques, the maestro is there to help. The class can help choose the song list.

BLUES JAMElectric guitars and acoustic guitars are welcome, as well as blues harp, bass, and anything else you like to play (sax, banjo, mandolin, uke, you name it). We'll explore the repertoire of BB, Albert and Freddie King, Buddy Guy, Clapton, Stevie, T-Bone Walker and all the blues greats (from the late '40s to the present). Fred can help you with chord progressions, soloing techniques, etc., but mostly it's a chance to jam and get used to playing great blues tunes with other people.

CLASSIC COUNTRY JAMWhatever instrument you play, here's your chance to learn to jam with other players, or hone your chops if you already know how, in the most supportive environment imaginable. Learn to play the real country songs of Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Ernest Tubb, Buck Owens, Roy Acuff and others. They are mostly simple, 3- or 4-chord tunes! Fred spells out the progressions and you take turns playing backup and soloing (only if you want to) on the best country music there is.

AFTER SCHOOL GUITAR JUST ADDED!Superstardom here you come! Have fun learning current tunes in this six week beginning class and get an exciting introduction to music. Student guitars available for rent (electrics, too). This class is intended for students ages 9 through 14.

INTRO TO L.A. MOUNTAIN / URBAN DULCIMER CLUB JUST ADDED!This hour-long session is designed to prepare beginners to participate more fully in the club meeting that immediately follows (1:30 - 3:00 PM). Joellen will teach mountain dulcimer basics: how to tune, two basic strums, a fingerpicking pattern, how to read tablature, and a song.

HARMONICA FOR BEGINNERS JUST ADDED!This beginning harmonica class is for all ages. No musical experience is required. You will need a decent quality diatonic harmonica in the key of C, which are available at McCabe's and can be purchased before class if you don't already own one.
Mimi is a professional diatonic harmonica player for over 4 years with numerous performances under her belt. A big fan of folk, blues, and country.

ONGOING MCCABE'S RECORDING STUDIOAre you overflowing with ideas and ready to commit them to the recording process? Join up with Pete Snell at McCabe's Guitar Shop for a one-on-one study on recording piano, guitar and voice. Come prepared to record your music with the best in microphones, mic pre amps, and professional digital software. At the end of each session you will walk out with a CD (or flash drive, if you prefer) of your finished music, ready to be distributed for fame and fortune. Pete Snell has recorded the music of both local and international artists at his Santa Monica recording studio, as well as playing as a session musician for many popular acts (Bonnie Raitt, Lou Reed, John Denver and many others).

Group Lesson Policy
Save your place by enrolling early. Drop by the shop, or call us at (310) 828-4497. Be aware that classes with very low turnouts may be canceled (but it doesn't happen too often). And don't forget to practice!
1. We rent for a minimum of three months.
2. We rent anything that retails for $500.00 or less (with some occasional exceptions).
3. The rate is 30% of the cost of instrument and case. (We will not rent without a case unless the customer already has a suitable case.)
4. The first three months' payment can apply toward purchase on that instrument or one of higher value.
5. One may continue renting at the rate of 10% per month after the initial three-month period. However, these payments do not apply toward purchase.
6. One must have a Credit card valid for at least 12 months.
